In this design, swirling metallic woodgrain pattern is paired with brilliantly colored Fordite. Fordite is the blanket term for the paint buildup that accumulates over time on the walls and work surfaces of automotive factory paint bays. Each layer the result of a car door or chassis being painted. Once the accumulated paint is chipped away, literally hundreds of perfect layers of color are revealed.
These days modern car factories are rather immaculate and even sterile places. A by-product like Fordite infuriates the car company accountants, so it's virtually a disappearing material. Cost-cutting, waste-reduction and even environmental impact concerns means materials like Fordite are no longer being "accidentally" created.
This makes Fordite a true piece of 4 dimension art, incorporating a physical manifestation of time itself.
